GSTKON'25: National Surgical Student Congress

Our congress was organized by the Young Healthcare Professionals Community with the support of the 3rd term of UNIDES (University Student Communities Cooperation and Support Program), which was initiated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, General Directorate of Youth Services, during the Young Healthcare Professionals Society: to support the social, cultural, and academic activities of university students.

The Young Healthcare Professionals Community National Surgical Congress, was held in-person on May 16-18, 2025, at the 100th Year Cultural Center located at Sivas Cumhuriyet University in Sivas. We brought together a total of 474 participants from various parts of Turkey, representing the departments of medicine,dentistry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, nursing, health sciences, midwifery, and physiotherapy, from both within and outside the city.

Our congress, which was of a national nature with Turkish as the designated presentation language, aimed to encourage scientific exchange by addressing innovations, advanced techniques, and clinical experiences in the field of surgery.

In our congress, a wide range of topics was covered, from minimally invasive surgery to robotic surgery, and from the management of surgical complications to advanced patient care. Presentations, panels, and interactive sessions held with the contributions of expert academics and clinicians made significant contributions to the academic and professional development of our participants. Additionally, current research in the surgical field was shared, and both oral and poster presentations were included throughout the congress, providing participants with the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences.

Within the scope of our congress, 11 surgical and social sessions accompanied by expert academics and clinicians, student presentations, a poster competition, 20 different workshops offering a wide range of options from basic professional skills to handicrafts, a gala dinner, and a Sivas Social Tour were carried out over the course of three days.
